We’ve previously talked about the benefits of steel storage tanks. Steel provides better security and is totally impermeable, making it ideal for several purposes. However, Tuffa also knows that some businesses are better off with plastic oil storage tanks, which is why we stock such a large selection ourselves. Here are a few reasons why plastic could be the right choice for you.
A lightweight storage solution
Steel is strong and heavy, making it perfect for security. However, plastic is far lighter, meaning that installations are far easier to manage. Plastic is usually a good option if you’re going to move the oil tank with any degree of regularity. Not only will it be easier, but you won’t need to spend as much time or money shifting it.
Versatile construction
Plastic is also far easier to make into different shapes, so you’ll often have more choice when you’re in the market for a plastic oil tank. This versatility comes at no cost when it comes to durability. Plastic fuel tanks are usually totally seamless, meaning that they aren’t as vulnerable to failure. In fact, a plastic oil tank that deforms is often able the regain its original shape.
You can also easily join these tanks up to create interlinking systems. A commonly identified flaw with plastic is that tanks generally hold less, but Tuffa plastic oil tanks can be connected to create 100,000 litres of storage.
Low maintenance
Plastic oil tanks require little to no maintenance in order to be kept in good working order. No painting is necessary, and there’s no need to worry about rot or rust setting in, making them perfect for ground level installation. This means that you won’t need to spend as much time or money on them, and will be able to keep them for a very long time without compromising safety.
If security is less of an issue and the tank won’t be sitting directly in the glare of the sun, then plastic makes a great choice. Of course, you’ll still need to find a manufacturer that can provide top quality models, and there’s none better than Tuffa. Every tank in our range contains a minimum 110% bund, and each is made from recyclable polyethylene that is corrosion resistant and UV stabilised, so you know you’ll be getting a durable and reliable model.
